Learn English with Love Songs

A song a day keeps poor English away

About me

I'm a professor of English language. I believe that a lot of vocabulary, as well as other things, can be learned from songs. This is what I will try to do here. Each day we will take a closer look at a popular love song explaining its content and grammar.

I strongly believe that working with songs is useful as one can practice pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation, what is even more, one remembers words, phrases, and expressions more easily.

Who is it for?

For anyone who would like to improve her / his English. The appropriate level of English to get the best out of this blog is from A2/ B1 on. Just look for the (grammar) content that you would like to improve. If you have any questions or suggestions you can always write to me.

How is it constructed?

At the top of the page, you will find grammar sections. Just pick any content that you would like to work on or that you need some help with. On each page, there is a description of a particular topic followed by lyrics and video clips of the songs, the explanation of grammar and vocabulary, and some exercises to see if you got the point.

Of course, speaking a foreign language properly takes a lot of practice, one of the important factors is also pronunciation, which can be practiced and remembered best with listening (in this case - songs, although it doesn't matter what you are listening to, as long as it is in the right language:). So, I would try to highlight the most difficult words or chunks and take you through the right pronunciation patterns.

Why Love Songs?

Because I am a romantic at heart and somehow I seem to be spending time listening to Silk Ray Love Songs. This time is well spent and used proactively since I am always looking for ideas to use in my blog. Someone smart once said: "Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time."
